Weddings at Principal York
At Principal York wedding couples have been celebrating their nuptials – and more recently tying the knot itself – for generations. Indeed, we have known three generations from the same family pose for their wedding photograph on the same spot of the grand staircase that sweeps down to the lobby.
Stunning Victorian architecture, three acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, and views out to the York Minster makes us a perfect setting for your wedding day.

Our luxury hotel offers a stunning setting with a choice of elegant event space and rooms to reflect the size and style of your occasion. In addition to 10 internal event rooms, many of which blend historic and ornate features from the original Victorian hotel, our modern Event Centre is a purpose-built space ideal for larger parties, celebrations and balls.
Our beautiful gardens, with manicured lawns and views of the historic York Minster and Roman Walls in the distance, also allow you to add an outdoor element to your occasion. From marquees on the lawn to BBQs and drinks receptions on the terrace, we’re always happy to help bring a breath of fresh air to make your celebration even more unique.

We know catering can make all the difference to an event and we’re proud to showcase the culinary delights our Executive Chef has expertly crafted in our sumptuous event menus. We’re confident our range of menus, which are bursting with seasonal flavour and local provenance, cater for all palates, offering everything from amazing appetisers to splendid four-course taster dinners.
But of course, if what’s on offer is not to your taste, we will happily work with you to devise a bespoke menu to delight you and your guests.
